Background: Cementless stems are commonly used in hemiarthroplasty (HA) for femoral neck fractures. Recent studies have reported increased risk of periprosthetic fracture with cementless stems compared to cemented HA. In elective total hip arthroplasty (THA), lower proximal canal fill ratios (CFR) of cementless stems have been associated with worse outcomes.

Nanoelectronic Detection of Acetone with MIL-53(Al)-NH Metal-Organic Framework on Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes.

A new composite material has been synthesized by incorporating an amine-functionalized MIL-53 (Al) metal-organic framework (MOF) and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) under hydrothermal conditions. This hybrid material combines the porosity of the MOF with the electrical conductivity of SWCNT. The preservation of MIL-53(Al)-NH MOF structure and morphology in the composite with SWCNT was verified by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area analysis.

The socioecology of sexual minority stigma: Advancing theory on stigma-based mechanisms underlying sexual orientation-based disparities in health.

Research in public health and psychology has identified sexual minority stigma-related risk factors that contribute to sexual orientation-based health disparities across settings and societies worldwide. Existing scholarship, however, has predominantly focused on these factors as independent, stand-alone risk factors, neglecting their interconnected nature across different levels. This article theoretically explores how sexual minority stigma may function as a multilevel socioecological system, by building on prevailing theories and emphasizing the interplay between structural, interpersonal, and intrapersonal stigma-related factors.

Efficacy of Liposomal Bupivacaine Versus a Traditional Local Anesthetic in Periarticular Injections during Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Periarticular injections (PAI) are a common component to multimodal regimens in total hip arthroplasty (THA), although the efficacy of adding liposomal bupivacaine (LB) remains unclear. A meta-analysis of total knee arthroplasty did not find LB superior, but a similar study has not been performed in THA. The purpose of this study was to compare opioid consumption, pain scores, and length of stay between PAIs with LB and traditional PAIs in THA.
