Introduction: The "All-on-four" technique addresses this by placing two vertical implants in the anterior region and two posterior implants angled up to 45°. This study evaluates stress distribution on bone, implants, abutments, gingiva, and prostheses based on posterior implant angulation, using both standard and angled neck implants. Additionally, angled neck implants were used alongside standard implants.

Article Synopsis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major global health issue, and factors like biomass exposure, patient demographics, and other health conditions play a significant role in worsening patient outcomes during episodes of exacerbation.
  • A study analyzed medical records of 334 COPD patients from January 2021 to December 2023, focusing on how biomass exposure influences hospital outcomes like ICU admissions, length of stay, and in-hospital mortality, rather than looking at its direct effects.
  • Results showed that patients with biomass exposure were more likely to be female, had lower smoking rates, and experienced higher ICU admissions and mortality; older patients also faced greater health challenges during their hospital stays, although specific characteristics didn't significantly correlate with outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the sputum microbiota of community-acquired pneumonia patients with COPD and asthma in Turkey, considering differences in their clinical presentation and microbiological findings.
  • It included 246 hospitalized patients, revealing that a significant portion had COPD (52.9%) or asthma (14.2%), with Pseudomonas aeruginosa being the most commonly identified pathogen.
  • Results indicated that CAP patients with COPD had more severe disease presentations and specific treatment needs compared to those with asthma, highlighting the importance of tailored management for pneumonia patients.

Objective: Although obesity is known to have adverse effects on asthma, it is not fully known whether general or abdominal obesity affects asthma symptoms more. In this study, the effects of diet and general/abdominal obesity on respiratory functions were evaluated.

Methods: A total of 204 adult asthmatic individuals participated in the study.

This study reports the development of a highly sensitive antibiotic-based discrimination and sensor platform for the detection of Gram-positive bacteria through surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Herein, a combination of gold nanorod arrays (GNAs) and colloidal gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was used as a SERS platform. To specifically capture Gram-positive bacteria, both GNAs and AuNPs were functionalized with thiol-modified vancomycin (HS-Van) molecules.
