Assessment of early attention in an Italian cohort of preschooler preterm children using the Early Childhood Attention Battery.

Purpose: This cross-sectional monocentric study aims to utilize the Early Childhood Attention Battery to investigate early attention patterns in young preterm children and ascertain the extent to which their attentional abilities diverge from those of term peers.

Methods: Inclusion criteria encompassed gestational age < 34 weeks, with assessments conducted between 3 and 5 years 11 months. Exclusion criteria included major brain lesions, significant motor or behavioral disorders, and intellectual functioning with IQ < 70.

Introduction: Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a poor-prognosis disease. Owing to the recent availability of new therapeutic options, there is a need to better assess prognosis. The initial clinical response could represent a useful parameter.

Utility of colonic manometry in children with Hirschsprung disease.

Objectives: Abnormal motility of the residual colon has been reported in post-pull-through Hirschsprung disease (PT-HSCR) patients with persistent defecation problems. We reviewed the role of colonic manometry (CM) in the management of defecation disorders in these patients.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical record of PT-HSCR children who underwent CM for persistent symptoms of abnormal defecation.

Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS) is an autonomic nervous system dysfunction due to PHOX2B gene mutation. Little is known about gastrointestinal motility disorders in CCHS patients. This study aims to describe the spectrum of gastrointestinal motility disorders in CCHS and provide PHOX2B genotype-phenotype correlation with Hirschsprung Disease (HD).
