Self-assembled DNA origami lattices on silicon oxide surfaces have great potential to serve as masks in molecular lithography. The lack of a sufficient number of validated miRNA targets severely hampers the understanding of their biological function. Even for the well-studied miR-155-5p, there are only 239 experimentally validated targets out of 42,554 predicted targets. For a more complete assessment of the immune-related miR-155 targetome, we used an inverse correlation of time-resolved mRNA profiles and miR-155-5p expression of early CD4+ T cell activation to predict immune-related target genes.

Diverse macrophage populations inhabit the rodent and human central nervous system (CNS), including microglia in the parenchyma and border-associated macrophages (BAMs) in the meninges, choroid plexus, and perivascular spaces. These innate immune phagocytes are essential in brain development and maintaining homeostasis, but they also play diverse roles in neurological diseases. In this review, we highlight the emerging roles of CNS macrophages in regulating vascular function in health and disease.

Background: Tobacco smoking is a relevant determinant of multiple sclerosis (MS) onset, and smokers have increased risk for faster progression of MS compared to non-smokers. While the smoking prevalence is high in Germany, no smoking cessation programs have been developed specifically in MS populations to date, and only little is known about the motivators and barriers influencing smoking cessation in people with MS (pwMS) in Germany. This study aims to identify these factors to inform the design of a tailored smoking cessation intervention.
