Objectives: Globally, healthcare policy promotes supported self-management as a strategy for people with long-term conditions. This meta-review aimed to explore how people with hypertension make sense of their condition, to assess the effectiveness of supported self-management in hypertension, and to identify effective components of support.
Methods: From a search of eight databases (January 1993-October 2012; update June 2017) we included systematic syntheses of qualitative studies of patients' experiences, and systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials evaluating the impact of supported self-management on blood pressure and medication adherence.
Adrenal masses discovered incidentally during imaging studies - adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) - are common and prompt investigations to exclude secretory lesions and malignancy. Their best management strategy is unknown. Our objectives were to identify all outcomes of AI investigation in a UK centre and to assess the performance of the 2 mg low dose (LDDST) and 1 mg overnight dexamethasone (ODST) suppression tests in this setting.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Limb salvage is viable in the majority of patients with malignant bone tumors, but especially in case of extensive tumors and bad soft tissue conditions, it is challenging in upper extremity.
Objectives/method: The clinical and radiological results of 21 patients, who had free vascularized fibular grafts (VFG), for diaphyseal (14), and epipyseal (7) defect reconstruction of the upper extremity, are presented. The indications for VFG were resection after osteosarcoma (9 cases), Ewings sarcoma (9 cases), chondrosarcoma (1 case), rhabdomyosarcoma (1 case), and 1 case of fibrous dysplasia.
