Background Context Isolated spinal artery aneurysms not associated with vascular malformations are exceedingly rare. Purpose To present a rare case of subarachnoid hemorrhage after thoracic radiculomedullary artery pseudoaneurysm rupture in a patient who abused synthetic cannabinoids and methamphetamines. The activation function-1 domain of estrogen receptor alpha in uterine stromal cells is required for mouse but not human uterine epithelial response to estrogen.

The activation function-1 (AF-1) domain of the estrogen receptor alpha (ERalpha) in stromal cells has been shown to be required for epithelial responses to estrogen in the mouse uterus. To investigate the role of the stroma in estrogenic responses of human uterine epithelium (hUtE), human/mouse chimeric uteri composed of human epithelium and mouse stroma were prepared as tissue recombinants (TR) that were grown in vivo under the renal capsule of female nude mouse hosts. In association with mouse uterine stroma (mUtS), hUtE formed normal glands surrounded by mouse endometrial stroma and the human epithelium influenced the differentiation of stroma into myometrium, such that a histologically normal appearing uterine tissue was formed.

Identification of twenty-two candidate markers for human osteogenic sarcoma.

Since osteogenic sarcoma (OGS) predominantly affects children, its etiology and progression may be determined more by genetic than environmental factors. A few genes have been associated with OGS, however, their value in the diagnosis and/or prognosis of the disease remains poor. Evidently, more markers need to be identified for improving management of patients with OGS.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia caused by IgG lambda-monotypic cold agglutinins of anti-Pr specificity after rubella infection.

First workshop for detection of heparin-induced antibodies: validation of the heparin-induced platelet-activation test (HIPA) in comparison with a PF4/heparin ELISA.

Background: No data exist regarding the inter-laboratory reproducibility of the heparin-induced-platelet-activation (HIPA) test, the most widely used functional assay in Germany for the detection of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) antibodies.

Methods: Nine laboratories used an identical protocol to test eight different sera with the HIPA test. Five laboratories also tested the sera with a platelet factor 4 (PF4)/heparin-complex ELISA.
