Four-year follow-up of a case of acute multiple sclerosis of the Marburg type.

We describe the clinical course, treatment and magnetic resonance findings during a four-year follow-up of a patient with acute multiple sclerosis of the Marburg type, treated with steroid and mannitol therapy, who survived the first bout. Although the course of the disease was clinically indistinguishable from relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, our case was characterized by peculiar features. These included the need for protracted steroid therapy and the remarkable tendency of MRI lesions to resolve completely.

Restorative proctocolectomy: morphological and functional study with coronal CT.

Background: Restorative proctocolectomy with ileal pouch has become the surgical treatment of choice for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and familial polyposis of the colon. Defecography is the radiological technique commonly employed to obtain detailed information on function and morphology of the ileal pouch; it allows the direct visualization of the ileal pouch and the anal canal, but it does not provide the visualization of the pelvis.

Methods: In all patients, computed tomography (CT) on coronal planes was performed to determine its possibilities as an alternative to defecography; 10 patients with UC submitted to restorative proctocolectomy and were examined.

[Magnetic resonance pyelography: optimization of the technic and the preliminary results].

An integrated approach to senology education: combination of a hypermedia program with a multimedia archive.

The aim of this work was to demonstrate the computerized system on senology, which combines a hypermedia application to a multimedia didactical archive, integrated with a radiological information system. These applications have been developed on Macintosh computers using the softwares Supercard and 4th Dimension. The hypermedia application deals with basic principles of anatomy as well as the radiologic semeiology and pathology through different imaging techniques in order to illustrate basic principles.
