Most pancreatic cancer patients are diagnosed at advanced stages, with poor survival rates and drug resistance making pancreatic cancer one of the highest causes of cancer death in the UK. Understanding the underlying mechanism behind its carcinogenesis, metastasis and drug resistance has become an essential task for researchers. We have discovered that a well-established tumour suppressor, EPLIN, has an oncogenic rather than suppressive role in pancreatic cancer.

Introduction: Ongoing innovations in the minimally invasive management of complex abdominal aortic aneurysms (cAAA), including physician-modified endografts (PMEG) and, more recently, Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) technology, have allowed vascular surgeons to expand surgical indications and complexity of care to this multifaceted patient population. Prior analyses have demonstrated intraoperative advantages of FORS in the management of cAAA for lower total procedural radiation and cannulation tasks, however, few analyses have evaluated the technology's effect on peri- and post-operative outcomes.

Methods: All PMEGs performed at our institution between 2020-2024 were retrospectively reviewed.

We report the findings of a genome-wide association study (GWAS) meta-analysis of endometriosis consisting of a large portion (31%) of non-European samples across 14 biobanks worldwide as part of the Global Biobank Meta-Analysis Initiative (GBMI). We identified 45 significant loci using a wide phenotype definition, seven of which are previously unreported and detected first genome-wide significant locus ( ) among only African-ancestry. Our narrow phenotypes and surgically confirmed case definitions for endometriosis analyses replicated the known loci near , , and .

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a common, chronic condition. People with T2D often report poor mental wellbeing and treatment engagement, especially when stressed. Coping mechanisms may help manage stress, but it is crucial to identify which strategies are most common and (mal)adaptive.

The immunoregulatory cytokine TGF-β is pleiotropic due to the near-ubiquitous expression of the TGF-β receptors TβRI and TβRII on diverse cell types. The helminth parasite Heligmosomoides polygyrus has convergently evolved a family of TGF-β mimics (TGMs) that bind both these receptors through domains 1-3 of a 5-domain protein. One member of this family, TGM4, differs from TGF-β in acting in a cell-specific manner, failing to stimulate fibroblasts, but activating SMAD phosphorylation in macrophages.
