Development of Gelatin-Coated Hydrogel Microspheres for Novel Bioink Design: A Crosslinker Study.

The development of vascularized tissue is a substantial challenge within the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Studies have shown that positively-charged microspheres exhibit dual-functions: (1) facilitation of vascularization and (2) controlled release of bioactive compounds. In this study, gelatin-coated microspheres were produced and processed with either EDC or transglutaminase, two crosslinkers.

Description of the experience of a clinical ethics consultation service from 2019 to 2021.

Introduction: Clinical ethics consultation services (CEC) are useful model for ethical counselling, albeit with scarce implementation in European countries. This article shares the experience of one of the first ethics consultation services in Spain.

Materials And Methods: This work is a retrospective, observational study of all consultations received by the CEC service at La Princesa University Hospital (Madrid, Spain) from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2021.

Boron exposure assessment using drinking water and urine in the North of Chile.

Boron is an essential trace element for plants and humans however it is still an open question what levels of boron are actually safe for humans. This study, conducted between 2006 and 2010, measured exposure levels of boron in drinking water and urine of volunteers in Arica, an area in the North of Chile with high levels of naturally occurring boron. Samples were taken of tap and bottled water (173 and 22, respectively), as well as urine from 22 volunteers, and subsequently analyzed by inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP-OES).

Managing hazardous pollutants in Chile: arsenic.

Chile is one of the few countries that faces the environmental challenge posed by extensive arsenic pollution, which exists in the northern part of the country. Chile has worked through various options to appropriately address the environmental challenge of arsenic pollution of water and air. Because of cost and other reasons, copying standards used elsewhere in the world was not an option for Chile.
