Managing scorpion envenomations: A Gabes emergency department case study of 60 patients.

Introduction: Scorpion envenomation constitutes a major public health issue in Tunisia, especially in arid regions such as the Gulf of Gabes. It is necessary to understand the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of this condition and the importance of early management.

Aim: This study aims to assess the epidemiological and clinical profile of patients admitted to the emergency department of Gabes University Hospital for scorpion envenomation, as well as the timing of management and intra-hospital evolution.

Clusterization-triggered emission (CTE) of nonconventional chromophores has recently attracted increased interest for its synergetic photophysical properties and promising applications, such as optical anticounterfeiting, white-light emission devices, or molecular sensing. Many studies have been conducted on pure organic clusteroluminogens (CLgens), but very few have explored organic-inorganic hybrid (OIH) materials. This work deals with optical properties of a new OIH compound (TET)[PbCl] (TET = ,'-bis(2-aminoethyl)-1,3-propanediamine (CNH)), which presents an unprecedented two-dimensional perovskitoid structure formed by strongly distorted [PbCl] layers of corner and edge-sharing [PbCl] octahedra, separated by TET tetra-ammonium cations.

Toward "E-Ring-Free" Lamellarin Analogues: Synthesis and Preliminary Biological Evaluation.

Since the discovery of anticancer properties of a naturally occurring hexacyclic marine alkaloid Lamellarin D, the attempts have been made to prepare its synthetic analogues and elucidate the effects of each structural component on their activity profile. While F-ring-free, A-ring-free and B-ring-open lamellarins are known, E-ring-free analogues have never been investigated. In this work, we developed a facile and straightforward synthetic method toward E-ring-free lamellarin analogues based on the [3+2]-cycloaddition.

Man-O-War simulator: a Low-cost manikin for training on chest tube management.

Simulation-based medical education is becoming a cornerstone in health education. Simulators are commonly expensive and not available in developing countries. We propose a very low-cost simulator that any educator can realize.
