DNA methylation patterns are inherited from the parental germline to the embryo. In mature sperm, the sites of unmethylated DNA are tightly coupled to sites of histone retention at gene regulatory elements that are implicated in paternal epigenetic inheritance. The timing and mechanism of site-specific DNA demethylation in the male germline currently remains unknown.

Unmet Palliative Care Needs of Patients with Stage B Chronic Heart Failure Classified by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology.

This study sought to explore the unmet palliative care needs of patients diagnosed with Stage B chronic heart failure (CHF) according to the American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology (ACC) classifications. We conducted this cross-sectional study between June 1 and August 31, 2020, at Kobe University Hospital. Patients were asked to complete the Integrated Palliative care Outcome Scale (IPOS) along with a customized questionnaire developed by a multidisciplinary team.

The role of glial cells missing 2 in induced pluripotent stem cell parathyroid differentiation.

Glial cells missing 2 (GCM2) has been identified as an essential factor for parathyroid differentiation, and GCM2 silencing in parathyroid cells decreases calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) expression. However, the role of GCM2 in parathyroid differentiation from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is unclear. Here, we investigated the role of GCM2 in parathyroid differentiation from iPSCs using the Tet-On 3 G system.

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a serious complication of connective tissue diseases (CTDs). The heterogeneity of ILDs reflects differences in pathogenesis among diseases. This study aimed to clarify the characteristics of CTD-ILDs via a detailed analysis of the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and blood immune cells.

A Web-Based Education Program About Primary Palliative Care for Heart Failure: A Study Protocol of Wait-Listed Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: The number of patients with heart failure (HF) is rapidly increasing as palliative care is being integrated into HF management and the need for a nursing workforce to meet these demands grows. To address this, we have developed a Web-based educational program on primary palliative care for HF among general registered nurses caring for patients with HF in Japan.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the program's effectiveness on nurse-reported palliative care practice, difficulty, and knowledge.
