Health sciences students' perception of the educational environment of KLE University, India as measured with the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM).

This study aimed to evaluate the educational environment of the health sciences programs of KLE University, Belgaum, Karnataka, India, to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and to suggest strategies to improve the educational environment to be on par with global standards. A cross-sectional study was conducted using the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire, filled out by 914 of the 1,004 students (91.0%) who were majoring in medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, and public health.

Impact of Training of Traditional Birth Attendants on Maternal Health Care: A Community-based Study.

Objective: To study the impact of Training of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) on maternal health care in a rural area.

Methods: An interventional study in the Primary Health Center area was conducted over 1-year period between March 2006 and February 2007, which included all the 50 Traditional Birth Attendants (30 previously trained and 20 untrained), as study participants. Pretest evaluation regarding knowledge, attitude, and practices about maternal care was done.

Impact of training of traditional birth attendants on the newborn care.

Objective: To study the impact of training of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) on the Newborn care in resource poor setting in rural area.

Methods: A community based study in the Primary Health Center (PHC) area was conducted over one year period between March 2006 to February 2007. The study participants were 50 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs)who conduct home deliveries in the PHC area.
