Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder accompanied by narrow interests, difficulties in communication and social interaction, and repetitive behavior. In addition, ASD is frequently associated with eating and feeding problems. Although the symptoms of ASD are more likely to be observed in boys, the prevalence of eating disorders is more common in females.

Development of CuO Nanoparticles from the Mucus of Garden Snail as New Antimicrobial Agents.

Several biologically active compounds involved in the green synthesis of silver and gold nanoparticles have been isolated from snail mucus and characterized. This paper presents a successful method for the application of snail mucus from as a bioreducing agent of copper sulfate and as a biostabilizer of the copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs-Muc) obtained. The synthesis at room temperature and neutral pH yielded nanoparticles with a spherical shape and an average diameter of 150 nm.

Alterations in Antioxidant Status and Erythrocyte Properties in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Erythrocytes are responsible for the transport of oxygen within the organism, which is particularly important for nerve tissues. Erythrocyte quality has been shown to be deteriorated in oxidative stress conditions. In this study, we measured the same series of oxidative stress markers in plasma and erythrocytes to compare the differences between neurotypical children (controls) and children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Varicella Manifestation after Mastopexy with Simultaneous Breast Augmentation.

We report on a rare case of primary varicella infection manifestation in the early postoperative period after mastopexy with simultaneous breast augmentation that caused dehiscence of surgical wound edges and spread of infection to a subcutaneous fat layer, leading to unaesthetic scarring. Whether such dehiscence in the background of varicella occurred coincidentally or was specifically triggered by the infection is unknown. The treatment is comprised of oral antiviral therapy, surgical wound debridement, and topical application of antiseptic solutions and ointments.

Gut Microbiota Profiles in Children and Adolescents with Psychiatric Disorders.

The aim of our work is to summarize the current state of knowledge on gut microbiota differences in children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. To find the relevant articles, the PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases were searched. Articles in English presenting original data and comparing the composition of gut microbiota in child psychiatric patients with gut microbiota in healthy children and adolescents were selected.
