Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) remains an unmet medical need. Recently, fusogens, such as polyethylene glycol (PEG), have been proven effective in restoring sensorimotor function after complete transection of the spinal cord at different levels and in different species. Here, we report on the use of a PEG-chitosan combo in a different animal model (swine).

Background: The aim was to study functional recovery in experimental animals (rabbits) with transected spinal cords treated with a combination of photo-cross-linked chitosan in a homogeneous mixture with polyethylene glycol (PEG-chitosan).

Methods: 20 rabbits ( = 10 experimental and = 10 controls) were submitted to complete spinal cord transection at T9. The experimental group received an intraoperative injection of PEG-chitosan.

We propose a broadband single-element monochromator with a constant deviation angle and fixed slits for the wavelength range of 3-60 nm, which uses a grazing incidence plane varied line-space (VLS) grating with exponential dependence of line frequency across the aperture. Wavelength scanning is performed by translating the VLS grating along its surface. The deviation angle is constant, and the source, input, and output slits are stationary.

the analysis of a specific and strains drift of Candida in HIV/AIDS patients with oropharyngeal candidiasis and the analysis of Candida sensitivity dynamics to reference antimycotic drugs. The study comprised 49 HIV-infected patients aged 20-69 years. The study revealed candidiasis treatment provides specific and strains drift of Candida.

We describe a broadband (12.5-30 nm) extreme ultraviolet (XUV) spectrograph, which is stigmatic throughout its operating range. The instrument employs a near-normal-incidence aperiodic Mo/Si multilayer mirror and a grazing-incidence plane varied line-space (VLS) grating.
