Wound infection treatment with antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) is still not a reality, due to the loss of activity . Unlike the conventional strategy of encapsulating AMPs on nanoparticles (NPs) leaving activity dependent on the release profile, this work explores AMP grafting to poly(D,L-lactide--glycolide)-polyethylene glycol NPs (PLGA-PEG NPs), whereby AMP exposition, infection targeting and immediate action are promoted. NPs are functionalized with MSI-78(4-20), an equipotent and more selective derivative of MSI-78, grafted through a thiol-maleimide (Mal) Michael addition.

This work provides an overview and appraisal of the general evolution of IS/IT in haemovigilance, from which lessons can be learned for its future strategic management. An electronic survey was conducted among the members of the International Haemovigilance Network to compile information on the mechanisms implemented to gather, process, validate, and store these data, to monitor haemovigilance activity, and to produce analytical reports. Survey responses were analysed by means of descriptive statistics, and comments/observations were considered in the final discussion.

SAD_BaSe is a blood bank data analysis software, created to assist in the management of blood donations and the blood production chain in blood establishments. In particular, the system keeps track of several collection and production indicators, enables the definition of collection and production strategies, and the measurement of quality indicators required by the Quality Management System regulating the general operation of blood establishments. This paper describes the general scenario of blood establishments and its main requirements in terms of data management and analysis.

Background: In this study, we explored the correlations between heart rate variability indexes and some biochemical markers during the third trimester of normal, hypertensive, and preeclamptic pregnancies.

Methods And Results: The obtained indexes are associated with complexity and spectral variables calculated from short electrocardiographic records.

Conclusions:  Including all the subjects in the analysis, we found that complexity indexes are positively related with hemoglobin concentration in the pathologic group and uric acid blood levels whereas low frequency (LF) was negatively correlated with uric acid and creatinine concentration as well as positively correlated with platelet levels.
