Background: Swedish undergraduate physiotherapy education lacks comprehensive integration of sustainable development in curricula. Factors related to educators' perspectives in preparing future physiotherapists for sustainable development and sustainable healthcare may shed light on this shortcoming.

Aim: This study aims to describe Swedish physiotherapy educators' (i) consciousness of sustainable development and its inclusion in teaching and learning activities, (ii) ecological worldviews, (iii) attitudes toward sustainability and climate change in physiotherapy, (iv) perceptions of education for sustainable development and sustainable healthcare and (v) examine the relationship between ecological worldview and attitudes toward sustainability and climate change in physiotherapy.

: Navigation systems are designed to enhance surgical precision, improving patient outcomes and reducing the risk of implant misplacement. In this study, we have evaluated a novel orthopedic surgical platform that utilizes CT imaging with AI-based algorithms to automate several critical aspects of total hip arthroplasty. It contains three modules-preoperative planning, navigation during surgery, and follow-up analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • Chronic lung disease of prematurity, known as bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), currently lacks effective treatments, highlighting the need for preclinical testing methods that accurately mimic human lungs to identify causes and test new drugs.
  • The study explored how the presence of mesenchymal cells and simulated fetal lung movements contribute to the formation of alveolar organoids from human pluripotent stem cells, testing various co-culture methods and mechanical deformation.
  • Results showed that mesenchymal progenitor cells enhance differentiation of alveolar epithelial type 2 cells in the organoids, and that mimicking fetal respiratory movements further boosts this differentiation process.

3D printing has been adopted into routine use for certain medical applications, but more widespread usage has been hindered by, among other things, unclear legislation. We performed an analysis, using legal doctrinal study and legal informatics, of relevant EU legislation and case law in four issues relevant to medical 3D printing (excluding bioprinting or pharmacoprinting): pre-market approval, post-market liability, intellectual property rights, and data protection. Several gaps and uncertainties in the current legislation and interpretations were identified.
