Metabolic profiles associated with exposure to ambient particulate air pollution: findings from the Betula cohort.

Introduction: Air pollution is a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality globally and has been linked to an increased risk of dementia. Previous studies within the Betula cohort in Northern Sweden have demonstrated associations between air pollution and dementia, as well as distinctive metabolomic profiles in dementia patients compared to controls. This study aimed to investigate whether air pollution is associated with quantitative changes in metabolite levels within this cohort, and whether future dementia status would modify this association.

'Important, but difficult': Swedish primary care professionals' perceptions and experiences of dealing with violence against women: an interview study.

Background: Men's violence against women is a global health problem causing physical, mental, sexual and reproductive ill-health. The World Health Organisation has estimated that every third woman in the world has been exposed to physical and/or sexual violence. Swedish primary care is central for victims of violence, as it is normally the first port of call for seeking healthcare.

Inaugurating High-Throughput Profiling of Extracellular Vesicles for Earlier Ovarian Cancer Detection.

Detecting early cancer through liquid biopsy is challenging due to the lack of specific biomarkers for early lesions and potentially low levels of these markers. The current study systematically develops an extracellular-vesicle (EV)-based test for early detection, specifically focusing on high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC). The marker selection is based on emerging insights into HGSOC pathogenesis, notably that it arises from precursor lesions within the fallopian tube.

Stress, mental ill-health and functional somatic syndromes in incident and chronic sleep disturbance in a general adult population.

Objective: Sleep disturbance may constitute health problems for the afflicted individual, but documentation of its chronicity is sparse. The objective was to investigate the extent to which incident and chronic sleep disturbance are associated with stress, mental ill-health and functional somatic syndromes.

Design: This was a prospective, longitudinal study with 3-year interval between two assessments (T1 and T2), with a population-based sample forming groups with incident sleep disturbance (disturbance only at T2;  = 303), chronic sleep disturbance (disturbance at T1 and T2;  = 343) and without sleep disturbance (neither at T1 nor T2;  = 1421).

Regional and clinical guidelines for prevention and care of obstetric anal sphincter injuries - A critical frame analysis.

Objective: Policy documents govern how the prevention and care of obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS) are implemented. Thus, in the absence of Swedish national guidelines on OASIS, differing views may be visible in the regional and local policy documents. Therefore, we aimed to analyse regional and local policies, guidelines, and care programs on the prevention of OASIS and care for OASIS-affected women in a Swedish context by applying a critical frame analysis inspired by Verloo.
