Purpose: This study explored how exogenous silicon (Si) affects growth and salt resistance in maize.
Methods: The maize was cultivated in sand-filled pots, incorporating varied silicon and salt stress (NaCl) treatments. Silicon was applied at 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 mM, and salt stress was induced using 0, 60 and120 mM concentrations.
Epigastric pain and vomiting are common presentations associated with various causes of acute abdomen. Acute abdomen encompasses a range of different pathologies, with epigastric pain narrowing the differential diagnosis to conditions such as pancreatitis, bowel obstruction, acute cholecystitis, gastritis, acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and peptic ulcer disease, such as gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers with/without perforation. This is a case of a male patient in his 80s who came to the emergency department with symptoms of generalized abdominal pain, vomiting, and constipation.

Effective management is critical to restoring thumb function and preventing long-term complications such as arthritis and instability.
Objective: This article provides a comprehensive overview of Bennett's fracture, including its mechanism of injury, diagnostic considerations, and management strategies, with a focus on conservative and surgical options.
Background And Objectives: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are significant global health challenges, leading to severe complications such as liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Despite available vaccines and treatments, these infections persist, particularly, in regions such as Iraq. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of HBV and HCV among couples attending premarital screening programs in Zakho, Kurdistan Region of Iraq and explore the associated demographic risk factors.
