Prevalence and determinants of antenatal depression and its association with intimate partner violence: a cross-sectional study at Hospital Melaka, Malaysia.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the determinants of antenatal depression and its relation to intimate partner violence (IPV) among pregnant women at Hospital Melaka, Malaysia.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between February 1 and March 31, 2024, with 370 pregnant women recruited through convenience sampling. Inclusion criteria were Malaysian citizenship, age above 18 years, and ability to read and comprehend Malay.

Psychiatric crises among youth with a history of trauma during COVID-19: A retrospective study of psychiatrically hospitalized children and adolescents.

Background: Youth hospitalized in inpatient child psychiatry units have a high prevalence of trauma and this population may have been especially affected by the pandemic.

Objective: This study examined the clinical and sociodemographic characteristics of hospitalized youth with a history of trauma prior to, during, and after the pandemic. Additionally, youth who reported a trauma history were compared to those who denied having a trauma history.

ASPRONET: A facilitated online education project for radiation therapists in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2019, the International Atomic Energy Agency approved a technical co-operation project, aimed at supporting clinical decision making and continuing professional education of radiation oncologists, medical physicists and radiation therapists (RTs) in Low-and-Middle Income Countries (LMICs) in the Asia Pacific region. From this, the Asia-Pacific Radiation Oncology Network (ASPRONET) was formed in 2020. An RT co-ordination group administered 16 online, one-hour seminars between December 2021 and November 2023 for an RT audience.

Utility of an Archival Dried Blood Spot (DBS) Collection from HIV-Infected Individuals with and without Cancer in a Resource-Limited Setting.

The frequency of virus-associated cancers is growing worldwide, especially in resource-limited settings. One of the biggest challenges in cancer research among people living with HIV (PLWH) has been understanding how infection with both HIV and Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) promotes the pathogenesis of Kaposi sarcoma (KS), the most common cancer among PLWH worldwide and a significant public health problem in regions with high prevalence of HIV such as Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR) provides samples for research, including dried blood spots (DBS) that were collected from large clinical epidemiology studies of KSHV and KS in PLWH conducted more than a decade ago in SSA.
