Ubiquitinylation drives many cellular processes by targeting proteins for proteasomal degradation. Ubiquitin conjugation enzymes promote ubiquitinylation and, thus, degradation of protein substrates. Ubiquitinylation is a well-known posttranslational modification controlling cell-cycle transitions and levels or/and activation levels of ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes change during development and cell cycle.

Procedures: Comparisons of efficacy (using standard faecal worm egg count reduction tests) and safety (on the basis of visual observations) were made in a large-scale field study in Australia, between groups of sheep treated with either an oral solution of monepantel or a registered anthelmintic. The sheep were naturally infected with the major gastrointestinal nematode genera present in Australia.
The PA28 complexes (also termed REG or 11S complexes) are described as activators of the 20S proteasome, a major intracellular protease in eukaryotic cells. They bind to the ends of the barrel-shaped 20S proteasome, and activate its peptidase activities. The interferon gamma inducible PA28alphabeta, made of the two related subunits PA28alpha and beta, is under sustained investigation as it plays important roles in the production by the proteasome of class I antigen peptides.

These showed that the main causes of death were starvation due to failure of the lamb to obtain milk, problems at parturition causing death during or shortly after birth and, in some cases, predation. The majority of lambs died within 1 week of birth with the highest mortalities occurring in the lighter lambs.
