Article Synopsis
  • Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is effective for treating heart failure but is under-researched in patients with common comorbidities like atrial fibrillation (AF).
  • The SMART registry enrolled 2035 patients to assess CRT response based on clinical outcomes over 12 months, focusing on factors like all-cause mortality, hospitalizations, and quality of life.
  • Results showed 58.9% of patients improved, but factors like age, AF, and diabetes were linked to lower CRT responsiveness, with patients having AF experiencing higher rates of hospitalizations and mortality compared to those in normal rhythm.

Mental imagery is a crucial cognitive process, yet its underlying neural mechanisms remain less understood compared to perception. Background: Preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm) represents a population with spirometry results that do not meet standardized COPD obstruction criteria, yet present with high respiratory symptom burden and might benefit from respiratory management and treatment. We aimed to determine prevalence of PRISm in US primary care patients diagnosed with COPD, describe their demographic, clinical, and CT scan characteristics.

Methods: An observational registry study utilizing the US APEX COPD registry, composed of patients diagnosed with COPD aged 35+ years.

Unlabelled: Limb amputation results in such devastating consequences as loss of motor and sensory functions and phantom limb pain (PLP). Neurostimulation-based approaches have been developed to treat this condition, which provide artificial somatosensory feedback such as peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS), spinal cord stimulation (SCS), and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). Yet, the effectiveness of different neurostimulation methods has been rarely tested in the same participants.
