Reported are results of the study of tolerance of the "thorax-back" g-loads (+Gx) during deorbiting of 83 total suited and unsuited cosmonauts in the period of 1997-1997. G-loads averaged 3.7 +/- 0.

The goal of the work was to study female tolerance of g-loads before and after simulated weightlessness, and evaluate the effectiveness of countermeasures and anti-g means proposed for space flight. Centrifuge with a 7.25 m arm was used for 29 runs of 8 female subjects.

The peptides which correspond to the fragments 55-64, 182-192, 225-236 and 236-245 (P1-P4, respectively) of the rat brain substance P receptor were synthesized. Antibodies (Ab1-Ab4, respectively) against the KLH-conjugates of these peptides were raised and purified by affinity chromatography. None of the antibodies inhibited the Bolton-Hunter labelled substance P, [125I]BH-SP, binding to the rat brain membranes.

B- and T-epitopes have been localized within the protective fragments of VP1 protein, viz., 136-152 of the O1K strain and 135-159 of the A22 strain of the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). Antibodies eliciting after immunization of various animals with the 135-159 A22 peptide are directed to different sites of the peptide.

We have synthesized the peptide representing 135-159 VP1 sequence of A22 strain of the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). The synthetic peptide induced 100% protection of guinea pigs against the disease. Two-fold immunization of cuttle with the peptide and single immunization of sheep induced full protection of the animals against A22 strain of FMDV.
