Mannheimia haemolytica consistently causes severe bronchopneumonia and rapid death of bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) under experimental conditions. However, Bibersteinia trehalosi and Pasteurella multocida have been isolated from pneumonic bighorn lung tissues more frequently than M. haemolytica by culture-based methods.

In the management of diabetes, accuracy of devices used for self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) is critical because SMBG results can affect patient diabetes-related health outcomes. A new blood glucose monitoring system (BGMS) platform has been developed that is based on the new CONTOUR® NEXT (CN) test strip. This BGMS platform uses a proprietary electron mediator and algorithm to minimize errors at different steps in the testing process, thus minimizing outliers and significantly improving accuracy from prior-generation blood glucose meter systems.

Two educational strategies designed to promote condom use for sexually transmitted disease protection were tested in a field experiment involving 291 female, adolescent family planning clinic clients. The 1st strategy was designed to enhance attitude-behavior correspondence by increasing direct experience with handling condoms. The 2nd, a contingency-planning exercise, induced clients to generate a mental representation of negotiating condom use with a sexual partner.
