Common treatment approaches for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) are associated with severe side effects due to the unfavorable biodistribution profile of potent chemotherapeutics. Here, we explored the potential of TNBC-targeting aptamer-decorated porous silicon nanoparticles (pSiNPs) as targeted nanocarriers for TNBC. A "salt-aging" strategy was employed to fabricate a TNBC-targeting aptamer functionalized pSiNP that was highly colloidally stable.

Numerous conditions and pathologies affect the biliary system, many of which have underlying benign courses. However, these overall benign conditions can predispose the patient to malignant pathologies, often due to malignancy arising from abnormal biliary ducts (such as with cholangiocarcinoma) or due to malignancy arising from end-stage liver disease caused by the biliary condition (such as with hepatocellular carcinoma). While these malignancies can at times be obvious, some pathologies can be very difficult to detect and distinguish from the underlying benign biliary etiology.

Purpose: To evaluate the recently reported relative diagnostic accuracy of US, CT, MRI, and cholescintigraphy for diagnosing acute cholecystitis.

Methods: 2 radiologists independently performed systematic electronic searches for articles published between 2000 and 2021 and applied inclusion/exclusion criteria. 2 different radiologists extracted data from the articles and scored each with a methodological quality tool.

Conferring multifunctional properties to proteins via enzymatic approaches has greatly facilitated recent progress in protein nanotechnology. In this regard, sortase (Srt) A transpeptidation has facilitated many of these developments due to its exceptional specificity, mild reaction conditions, and complementation with other bioorthogonal techniques, such as click chemistry. In most of these developments, Srt A is used to seamlessly tether oligoglycine-containing molecules to a protein of interest that is equipped with the enzyme's recognition sequence, LPXTG.
