Subacute rumen acidosis is thought to be a common condition in early lactating dairy cattle; however, diagnosis is difficult. There are currently only two techniques available for measuring rumen pH under field conditions: rumenocentesis and oral stomach tube. The Malaria Research and Reference Reagent Resource Center (MR4) is a program to support the international malaria research community. The primary goal is to improve access to well-characterized quality-controlled parasite, host and vector reagents for standardization of assays and other general research purposes. MR4 is open to all scientists worldwide, however many of its inaugural activities will have a focus in Africa, where the concept for the MR4 was born.

This is a summary report on samples of conidiating Neurospora species collected over three decades, in many regions around the world, primarily from burned vegetation. The genus is ubiquitous in humid tropical and subtropical regions, but populations differ from region to region with regard to which species are present. The entire collection, >4600 cultures from 735 sites, is listed by geographical origin and species.
