Article Synopsis
  • Cryptococcosis, caused by specific fungal species, leads to 181,000 deaths annually due to late diagnosis and limited treatment, highlighting the need for new antifungal agents like essential oils.
  • The study investigated how lavender essential oil (LEO) affects two strains of fungi, utilizing molecular evaluation through morphological and proteomics approaches.
  • Results showed that LEO induces a stressful environment; one strain exhibited changes in energy metabolism, while the other showed alterations in cellular architecture, indicating differences in their responses to the treatment.

Zika virus (ZIKV), a mosquito-borne Flavivirus of international concern, causes congenital microcephaly in newborns and Guillain-Barré syndrome in adults. ZIKV capsid (C) protein, one of three key structural proteins, is essential for viral assembly and encapsidation. In dengue virus, a closely related flavivirus, the homologous C protein interacts with host lipid systems, namely intracellular lipid droplets, for successful viral replication.

Understanding the normal physiology of the canine mammary gland (CMG) is crucial, as it provides a foundational reference for understanding canine mammary neoplasms. The relation between the Proliferation Index (PI) indicated by Ki-67 expression, along with the Apoptotic Index (AI) determined through Caspase-3 expression during the oestrous cycle, is inadequately documented in existing literature. This study seeks to offer insights into the interplay between PI and AI in the CMG across oestrous cycle phases.
