Osteosynthesis of mandibular fragments by the traditional and biomechanics-based methods was studied in dogs. The morphological picture was virtually the same in the immediate periods (5-10 days), whereas in remote periods (1, 3, and 6 months) osteogenesis was more adequate in the group where biomechanically based methods were used, particularly so with the supraosseous miniplates.

Analysis of mandibular efforts in exercise shows that the strain depends mainly on the force moment and is linearly distributed along the height of the transverse section. The maximal stretching strain is recorded in the superior portion, the maximal compression strain at the edge of the mandible. This results in the development of diastasis in the alveolar section.

A scheme of holographic investigation in counter-current bundles was used to study mandibular deformations in functional exercise. He-Ne laser LGN-215, generating was used as a source of light. To record the holographic interferograms, high-resolution plates of the PFG-03 type were employed, fixed directly on the object.

The musculus masseter, ensuring movements of the mandible, displace the osseous pieces at its fracture up/down in the lateral and medial sides. Morphometrical investigation of the musculi depressores++ mandibulae has been performed. As a whole 33 corpses (29-78 years of age) of normosthenic++ complexion have been studied.
