Purpose: This study aims to develop a mathematical model to elucidate fluid circulation in the retina, focusing on the movement of interstitial fluid (comprising water and albumin) to understand the mechanisms underlying exudative macular edema (EME).

Methods: The model integrates physiological factors such as retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) pumping, osmotic pressure gradients, and tissue deformation. It accounts for spatial variability in hydraulic conductivity (HC) across the retina and incorporates the structural role of Müller cells (MCs) in maintaining retinal stability.

A series of C2-functionalied Pt (IV) glycoconjugates based on glucosamine have been synthesised, characterised and tested as anticancer agents on a series of different 2D and 3D cancer cell lines. The carbohydrate will act as a targeted delivery system to improve the selectivity, exploiting the Warburg Effect and the GLUTs receptors that are overexpressed in most of the cancer cells. The hydroxyl at C2 of the carbohydrates does not participate in hydrogen bonding with the GLUTs receptors, making C2 an attractive position for drug conjugation as seen in literature.

Purpose: Intravitreal injection of drugs is commonly used for treatment of chorioretinal ocular pathologies, such as age-related macular degeneration. Injection causes a transient increase in the intraocular volume and, consequently, of the intraocular pressure (IOP). The aim of this work is to investigate how intravitreal flow patterns generated during the post-injection eye deflation influence the transport and distribution of the injected drug.

Background: Hematological malignancies (HMs) represent a heterogeneous group of diseases with diverse etiology, pathogenesis, and prognosis. HMs' accurate registration by Cancer Registries (CRs) is hampered by the progressive de-hospitalization of patients and the transition to molecular rather than microscopic diagnosis.

Material And Methods: A dedicated software capable of automatically identifying suspected HMs cases by combining several databases was adopted by Reggio Emilia Province CR (RE-CR).

Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) are emerging as powerful and versatile regulators of transcriptional programs and distinctive biomarkers of progression of T-cell lymphoma. Their role in the aggressive anaplastic lymphoma kinase-negative (ALK-) subtype of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) has been elucidated only in part. Starting from our previously identified ALCL-associated lncRNA signature and performing digital gene expression profiling of a retrospective cohort of ALCL, we defined an 11 lncRNA signature able to discriminate among ALCL subtypes.
