In this study, we find that SARS-CoV-2 has greater RNA recombination frequency than other human CoVs. In addition, coronavirus RNA recombination primarily occurs at uridine (U)-enriched RNA sequences.

We demonstrate that progressive gelation initiates along an annular front, isolating a central pool that briefly remains open to particulate advection before gelation completes across the droplet center. Transition to an elastic solid is evidenced by cracking initiating proximal to front locations.
