Elevated inflammatory reactions are a significant component in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI). Activation of α7-Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor (α7nAChR) reduces stroke-induced inflammation in rats, but the anti-inflammatory pathway in microglia under CIRI condition remains unclear. This study employed qRT-PCR, protein assays, NanoString analysis, and bioinformatics to examine the effects of PNU282987 treatment (α7nAChR agonist) on BV2 microglial functional differentiation in oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGDR) condition.

Background: The hybrid strategy of drug-eluting stent (DES) and drug-coated balloon (DCB) has been increasingly accepted for the treatment of coronary artery disease. However, data regarding the clinical outcome of this practice in a Southeast Asian population are limited.

Aims: We aimed to investigate the safety and clinical outcome of this hybrid strategy (DES and DCB) in the treatment of coronary artery disease.

Article Synopsis
  • Using sewage sludge as fertilizer can meet crop nutrient needs and is cheaper than other disposal methods, making it a sustainable choice for agriculture.
  • The study shows that pellets made from sewage sludge and tapioca starch have adequate nutrient levels and meet safety standards for agricultural use.
  • Planting trials indicate that combining inorganic fertilizer with sewage sludge pellets significantly enhances plant growth, outperforming controls on multiple growth metrics, while production costs remain low at about USD 0.98 per ton.
