Besides aroma, the tastes of Pixian Broad Bean Paste (PBBP) are also important, however, they have not yet been thoroughly elucidated. Therefore, this study employed sensory and untargeted metabolomics approaches to investigate taste characteristics, molecular basis and their metabolic pathways of PBBP from three different manufacturers and two grades. Results showed PBBP was predominantly characterized by strong sour, umami and salty tastes, and significant differences were observed in samples from different manufacturers and grades (p < 0.

Nornicotine is an undesirable alkaloid in tobacco due to its unpleasant taste and potential toxicity. The accumulation of nornicotine in tobacco leaves is related to the development of the leaves, with very low amounts present in green leaves and a dramatic increase after senescence. While it is known that the NtE4 is a key enzyme involved in nicotine to nornicotine conversion in tobacco leaves, the specific genes regulating the expression of NtE4 during leaf senescence remain unclear.

Visualizing intratumoral Fenton or Fenton-like reactions especially at a cellular level in real-time can directly monitor the process of CDT, which is not yet feasible. Here, we present a molecule BADA chelating Cu to form Cu-BADA nanoparticles, exhibiting fluorescence quenching properties through intermolecular electron transfer.

Research Design And Methods: 19,440 patients with T2D underwent structured evaluation utilizing the JADE platform with clinical outcomes data retrieved from territory-wide electronic medical records including inpatient, outpatient and emergency care. Two-part model was adopted to account for skewed healthcare costs distribution.
Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a prevalent sleep disorder characterized by frequent pauses or shallow breathing during sleep. Polysomnography, the gold standard for OSA assessment, is time consuming and labor intensive, thus limiting diagnostic efficiency.
Objective: This study aims to develop 2 sequential machine learning models to efficiently screen and differentiate OSA.
