The purpose of this study was to investigate the evolution of digit health (DH) on Swiss dairy farms participating in a nationwide DH program and to identify risk factors associated with poor DH. Specially trained claw trimmers recorded disorders of the digits (DOD) electronically during routine trimmings between January 2020 and June 2023. The first part of the study was a non-randomized controlled implementation study, comparing the evolution of DH in 75 herds that received professional on-farm risk assessments as well as veterinary advice with 49 herds that did not.

Background: The Abdominal Compartment Society (WSACS) established consensus definitions and recommendations for the management of intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) in 2006, and they were last updated in 2013. The WSACS conducted an international survey between 2022 and 2023 to seek the agreement of healthcare practitioners (HCPs) worldwide on current and new candidate statements that may be used for future guidelines.

Methods: A self-administered, online cross-sectional survey was conducted under the auspices of the WSACS to assess the level of agreement among HCPs over current and new candidate statements.

This review summarises the current evidence for the perioperative preparation in children with upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), including COVID-19 infection. URTI, including COVID-19 infection, are common and frequent in children who present for elective surgery. Children with URTI are at increased risk of perioperative respiratory adverse events.
