Recent studies have demonstrated the association between constitutional ring chromosome 21 (r(21)c) and the development of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) with intrachromosomal amplification of chromosome 21 (iAMP21). iAMP21 acts as a driver which is often accompanied by secondary alterations that influence disease progression. Here, we report an atypical case of iAMP21 B-ALL with a unique molecular profile in the context of r(21)c.

Heatwaves (HWs) are predicted to increase in frequency and severity due to climate change. Yet, there is limited information about how ecological resilience of aquatic communities is going to be impacted by recurrent HWs. Here, we used data from an outdoor freshwater mesocosm experiment where a semi-natural phytoplankton community was exposed to three subsequent HWs.

The emission of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) from wastewater treatment plants has been extensively studied; however, less attention has been paid to municipal solid waste treatment plants (MSWTPs), which can also be a potential source for CECs into surface water (SW) and groundwater (GW) ecosystems. In this work, the environmental impact of a MSWTP located in the province of Castelló, Spain, was studied along a period of ten years (from 2012 to 2022). A total of 173 water samples (including SW and GW) collected from the surrounding of this plant were monitored for 93 compounds (pharmaceuticals and pesticides) by using liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry with triple quadrupole.

Chlorpyrifos is one of the most widely used insecticides globally, yet its toxicity for tropical aquatic ecosystems in Latin America has not been thoroughly evaluated. In this study, we conducted a 70-day mesocosm experiment to assess the effects of chlorpyrifos on zooplankton and macroinvertebrate communities representative of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Mesocosms were exposed to a single application of chlorpyrifos at four nominal concentrations (0.

CIGB-552 is a synthetic anticancer peptide that has been evaluated in vitro and in vivo in lung and colon cancer models. To optimize therapy in the clinic, pharmacokinetic studies are necessary. Previously, a sandwich-type enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) had been developed by our working group for the quantification of CIGB-552 in biological matrices.
