Previous reports have indicated that during the era of combination antiretroviral therapy, the major causes of morbidity and mortality in people living with HIV (PLWH) were not solely linked to HIV-related opportunistic infections but also to cancers that were difficult to manage due to HIV-related immunodeficiency. We investigated whether PLWH who underwent autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) for lymphomas experienced significant morbidity over the past thirty years following HIV infection. Design and Test of a Calibration System for Avalanche Photodiodes Used in X-Ray Compton Polarimeters for Space.

The development and calibration of a measurement system designed for assessing the performance of the avalanche photodiodes (APDs) used in the Compton scattering polarimeter of the CUSP project is discussed in this work. The designed system is able to characterize the APD gain GAPD and energy resolution across a wide range of temperatures (from -20 °C to +60 °C) and bias voltages Vbias (from 260 V to 410 V). The primary goal was to experimentally determine the GAPD dependence on the and Vbias in order to establish a strategy for stabilizing GAPD by compensating for fluctuations, acting on Vbias.

Wildfires can impact both freshwater and marine ecosystems through post-fire runoff, but its effects on bivalves, particularly those living in marine habitats, remain largely overlooked. While evidence exists that wildfire ash can alter the fatty acid (FA) and sugar profiles of aquatic biota, its influence on the biochemical profiles of bivalves have not been addressed to date. This study aimed to assess the effects of ash exposure on the FA and sugar profiles of two bivalve species used for human consumption: a freshwater clam (Corbicula fluminea) and a marine bivalve (Cerastoderma edule), additionally evaluating potential effects on their nutritional value.
