Objective: This study aimed to determine the influence of treatment strategy on mortality within 90 days from the first intervention in patients presenting with left-sided obstructive colon carcinoma.
Design: This was a national multicenter cohort study that used data from a prospective national audit.
Background: Synchronous lateral pelvic lymph node (LPLN) involvement occurs in a significant number of patients with rectal cancer. The aim of this study is to determine the rate of LPLN metastases in rectal cancer patients with LPLN suspicious for metastases (LPLNSM) on pretreatment imaging, treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT). Additionally, the influence of LPLN responsiveness to nCRT as determined by post-nCRT restaging scan was investigated.

Precise 3-dimensional real-time image guidance may facilitate the safety, accuracy, and efficiency of transanal total mesorectal excision.
Technique: A preoperative CT was obtained with 10 skin fiducials and further processed to emphasize the border of the anatomical structure by 3-dimensional modeling and pelvic organ segmentation.
