Background/objective: There is little data on infections of the genus Cosmocercoides Wilkie, 1930 in toad populations in Iran. Hence, the present study aims to report the first morphological description of the new genus Cosmocercoides Wilkie, 1930 (Ascaridida: Cosmocercidae) in Iranian toads (Bufotes surdus).

Methods: During the helminthological survey from October 2023 to December 2023, 10 specimens of Bufotes surdus were collected.

Objectives: Mitral annulus calcification (MAC) has been linked to cardiovascular disease severity, but its relationship with the SYNTAX score (SS) in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the association between MAC and SS in ACS patients to explore the role of MAC in predicting cardiovascular disease severity.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 233 ACS patients at Tehran Heart Center, Tehran, Iran, from December 2021 to August 2022.

The purpose of this research was to assess the impact of different doses of Daphnetin (DAP, a natural compound derived from coumarin) on hippocampus neuronal injury, neurobehavioral function, blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity, expression of claudin-5, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and inflammatory markers in a mouse model of cerebral ischemia. Cerebral ischemia was induced in mice through 30 minutes of bilateral common carotid occlusion (BCCAO), followed by 48 hours of reperfusion. The viability of hippocampal neurons was assessed using Cresyl violet staining and BBB function was determined by measuring Evans blue (E.

The bearing capacity and settlements of surface foundations located on a soil slope are the important issues that have to be considered by geotechnical engineers for the design. The presence of an underground void beneath the footing can affect the foundation stability and can lead to serious structure damages. In this study, the results of two-dimensional (2D) discrete element (DE) and finite element (FE) analyses of a surface footing on a soil slope above a void are presented.

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of thymol on growth performance and apparent total tract digestibility of nutrients in severely feed-restricted lambs. Twenty-one male Baluchi lambs were randomly blocked by live weight into three groups: control without feed restriction (CON), feed restricted (FR), and feed restricted plus thymol (FR + T). The lambs underwent a four-week feed restriction period followed by four weeks of realimentation.
