The goal of the study is to evaluate metabolic and morphological changes of the facultative alkaliphile 5-DB and the weakly alkali-resistant ATCC 6633 in a wide pH range and at different NaCl concentrations. The alkaliphile 5-DB is shown to have a broader general resistance to adverse factors (wide pH range, 50 g/L NaCl) than a weakly alkali-tolerant strain of the same genus. This alkaliphile is also shown to have a significantly greater resistance not only to high pH but also to low pH in comparison with ATCC 6633.

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a common cause of childhood mortality among hereditary diseases of the central nervous system, which are caused by the processes of degeneration and death of motor neurons of the anterior horns of the spinal cord. An urgent issue of modern neurology is pathogenetic therapy for this group of patients, the purpose of which is to increase the level of motoneuron survival protein. We performed a search on current methods of treating SMA in Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Embase by the keywords: spinal muscular atrophy, neuromuscular diseases, pathogenetic therapy.

X-ray diffraction studies and extensive theoretical considerations indicate that the d -orbitals of two positively charged rhodium(I) centers provide sufficient nucleophilicity to form a three-center halogen bond (XB) with the σ-hole donors. The two metal centers function as an integrated XB acceptor, providing assembly via a metal-involving XB.
