Spirituality, Resilience and Vicarious Posttraumatic Growth Among Orthopedic Nurses in Nigeria.

We examined whether the salutogenic nature of resilience is the pathway of association, as well as a moderating factor, between spirituality and vicarious posttraumatic growth (VPTG). Two hundred Nigerian orthopedic nurses completed the Resilience Scale (RS-14), Spiritual Involvement and Belief Scale-Revised (SIBS-R), and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory-Short Form (PTGI-SF). We found that greater spirituality and resilience were directly associated with high VPTG.

Texture analysis of sonographic image of placenta in pregnancies with normal and adverse outcomes, a pilot study.

Introduction: Many maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality from complications of pregnancy have been attributed to placenta abnormality. Placenta assessment in developing countries is mainly through ultrasonography which is subjective and prone to error. Objective assessment of placental abnormalities through texture analysis has been frequently done using magnetic resonance images with little done on ultrasound generated images, thus, the need for this study.

Inclusion strategies in multi-stakeholder dialogues: The case of a community-based participatory research on immunization in Nigeria.

Background: Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) has been used to address health disparities within several contexts by actively engaging communities. Though dialogues are recognized as a medium by which community members and other actors can make their voices heard through processes that support shared-decision making, power asymmetries often impede the achievement of this objective. Traditionally such relationship asymmetries exist between communities, health workers, and other professionals resulting in the exclusion of communities from decision making in participatory practices and dialogues.

Using participatory action research to improve immunization utilization in areas with pockets of unimmunized children in Nigeria.

Background: In 2005, Nigeria adopted the Reaching Every Ward strategy to improve vaccination coverage for children 0-23 months of age. By 2015, Ogun state had full coverage (100%) in 12 of its 20 local government areas, but eight had pockets of unimmunized children, with the highest burden (37%) in Remo North. A participatory action research (PAR) approach was used to facilitate implementation of local solutions to contextual barriers to immunization in Remo North.

Association of Near-Miss with Two Erroneous Gambling Cognitions and Betting Intention: Evidence from Nigerian Adolescents.

Evidences show increase of positive attitudes of Nigerian adolescents towards gambling in the past decade. Nigerian adolescents have been shown to spend significant part of their academic time and resources on Soccer bets. This behaviour could act as a predisposing factor for poor academic performances and problem gambling at adulthood.
