Liver ischaemia-reperfusion (IR) injury remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality following liver transplantation and resection. CD4+ T cells have been shown to play a key role in murine models; however, there is currently a lack of data that support their role in human patients. Data on clinical outcomes and complications were documented prospectively in 28 patients undergoing first elective liver transplant surgery.

Introduction: Wastewater surveillance is an important technique to monitor public health and is being studied extensively for pandemic prevention, force health protection and readiness, and as a potential early warning system for chem-bio defense. Wastewater surveillance has traditionally relied on techniques such as quantitative PCR or targeted sequencing, both of which are microbe- or disease-specific tools. Newer pan-viral metagenomics strategies may provide higher specificity for pathogens of interest, resulting in a lower false negative rate and reduced sequencing of undesired background nucleic acids.

Article Synopsis
  • Advanced Practice Physiotherapists (APPs) increasingly use MRI to diagnose lumbosacral radiculopathy (LSR) and rule out other spinal issues, but there's limited data on how their assessments correlate with MRI findings.
  • The study analyzed the diagnostic and treatment plan differences pre- and post-MRI for 482 patients, revealing significant correlations between APP diagnoses and MRI results.
  • Findings indicate a weak but statistically significant correlation between pre- and post-MRI treatment plans, suggesting APP diagnoses align somewhat with MRI outcomes, though the impact on treatment may vary.

Background: Physiotherapists in the United Kingdom (UK), who have received additional training can adopt injection therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders.

Objectives: The objective of this practice survey was to explore (i) the frequency of use of injection therapy by UK physiotherapists for MSK disorders; and (ii) the clinical reasoning for selection of injectate, dose and pre/post injection practice.

Design: Cross-sectional online survey.
