Management of de novo Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mHSPC) and the role of Radiation Therapy: A Consensus by the Italian Association of Radiotherapy and Clinical Oncology (AIRO).

Purpose: Prostate cancer treatments paradigms are in continuous evolution, especially in the metastatic setting. In this context, the Genito-Urinary Group of Italian Association of Radiotherapy and Clinical Oncology aimed to create a consensus on radiation therapy indication in de novo metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer both on primary tumor and metastatic sites.

Methods: A panel of experts, involved in clinical management of prostate cancer, through the estimate-talk-estimate method, developed a list of items and correspondent statements on the identified topic.

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy and Abiraterone Acetate for Patients Affected by Oligometastatic Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer: A Randomized Phase II Trial (ARTO).

Purpose: ARTO (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03449719) is a multicenter, phase II randomized clinical trial testing the benefit of adding stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) to abiraterone acetate and prednisone (AAP) in patients with oligometastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC).

Materials And Methods: All patients were affected by oligometastatic CRPC as defined as three or less nonvisceral metastatic lesions.

Magnetic resonance guided SBRT reirradiation in locally recurrent prostate cancer: a multicentric retrospective analysis.

Aims: Reirradiation of prostate cancer (PC) local recurrences represents an emerging challenge for current radiotherapy. In this context, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) allows the delivery of high doses, with curative intent. Magnetic Resonance guided Radiation Therapy (MRgRT) has shown promising results in terms of safety, feasibility and efficacy of delivering SBRT thanks to the enhanced soft tissue contrast and the online adaptive workflow.

Multiparametric imaging guided HDR interventional radiotherapy (brachytherapy) boost in localized prostate cancer: a multidisciplinary experience.

Objective: The aim of this study was to report a monoinstitutional multidisciplinary experience about the use of multiparametric imaging to identify the areas with higher risk of relapse in localized prostate cancer, with the purpose of allowing a biologically planned target dose escalation.

Patients And Methods: We performed a retrospective evaluation of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer who received treatments at our Interventional Oncology Center with interstitial interventional radiotherapy from 2014 to 2022. Inclusion criteria were histologically confirmed localized prostate cancer; and National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) risk class unfavorable intermediate or high/very high risk.

Real-world experience of abiraterone acetate plus prednisone in chemotherapy-naive patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer: long-term results of the prospective ABItude study.

Background: Limited real-world data exist on the effectiveness and safety of abiraterone acetate plus prednisone (abiraterone hereafter) in the treatment of patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) naive to chemotherapy. Most of the few available studies had a retrospective design and included a small number of patients. In the interim analysis of the ABItude study, abiraterone showed good clinical effectiveness and safety profile in the chemotherapy-naive setting over a median follow-up of 18 months.
