Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate factors that influence the operating time (OT) during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), both with and without extended pelvic lymph node dissection (ePLND) for prostate cancer.
  • Data was collected from 1,289 patients over nearly eight years, revealing that procedures done by high-volume surgeons (HVS) resulted in significantly shorter operating times compared to low-volume surgeons (LVS), regardless of certain clinical and anatomical factors.
  • The findings suggest that hospitals can better manage OT to improve efficiency in surgical scheduling, reduce costs, and enhance training opportunities for surgeons.

A team-based, active learning activity was created to facilitate undergraduate nursing students' understanding of qualitative research concepts. Working in small groups, students utilized the full-text lyrics of albums by recording artist Taylor Swift to analyze phrasing, create a qualitative coding scheme, code the data, and create a content and thematic analysis. The students then collaboratively created a Google Slide to present their findings for the class.

Article Synopsis
  • STING is a molecule involved in immune reactions to double-stranded DNA and its role in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) was analyzed in a study of 146 samples.
  • The study found that STING expression was present in 36% of cases, notably more in high-grade and metastatic tumors, suggesting a link between STING and aggressive tumor behavior.
  • Results suggest STING could serve as a prognostic marker and a target for immunotherapy, although it showed no significant correlation with tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes.
