Factors determining bioaccumulation of neurotoxicant Hg in the zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha): Influence of biometric parameters, sex and storage of shell.

One of benthic organisms exposed to contact with mercury in the southern Baltic is alien species of clam: Dreissena polymorpha. As this organism is increasingly dynamic in various regions of the world including the southern Baltic region, it is reasonable to ask whether it tolerates elevated concentrations of xenobiotics? Does it effectively eliminate Hg? The study determined the effects of biometric parameters and water temperature on the rate of accumulation and efficiency of eliminating Hg from body. Investigations focused on the shell which represents poorly-recognized role in the process of Hg distribution in clams.

Factors Influencing Longevity of Humoral Response to SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination in Patients with End Stage Kidney Disease Receiving Renal Replacement Therapy.

COVID-19 has severely affected the population of patients with end stage renal disease. Current data have proved a two-dose vaccination schedule against SARS-CoV-2 to be effective among dialyzed patients. There are limited data on the longevity and modulating factors of humoral response after vaccination.

Level of anxiety and results of psychomotor tests in young soccer players of different performance levels.

The aim of the current study is to determine how the level of state and trait anxiety differs between youth athletes of different performance levels and furthermore whether there are correlations between performance levels and psychomotor variables in the selected tasks. A sample of 97 boys, aged 11-12 years, practising soccer represented two groups: A - high performance level and B - lower performance level. Participants completed a state and trait anxiety inventory and performed selected psychomotor tests.

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on bariatric patients in Podlaskie Voivodeship in Poland.

The research shows that despite the pandemic and higher risk of mortality and complications after SARS-CoV-2 infection, bariatric patients declare a high level of willingness to undergo the bariatric procedure, and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic does not play an important role in their decision-making process concerning the bariatric procedure. </br> </br> Due to the noticeable lifestyle changes during the pandemic such as greater food intake and decrease in physical activity among the bariatric patients, the process of qualification to the bariatric procedure should be conducted very meticulously and the recommended values for weight loss should be implemented to increase patients' motivation before and after the procedure. As the research shows, bariatric patients tend to neglect their strive for healthy lifestyle, even in the presence of the pandemic.
