Introduction: Empty sella is characterized by a flattened profile of the pituitary gland that represents in most cases only a radiological incidental finding. When endocrine, ophthalmic, and neurological symptoms occur, this condition is described as empty sella syndrome.

Introduction: First-generation somatostatin receptor ligands (fg-SRLs) are the cornerstone of acromegaly treatment. Additional benefits were shown using high dose (HD) or high frequency (HF), relatively short-term regimens. Although several predictors of response to standard dose (SD)-fg-SRLs were reported, outcome biomarkers for HF administration are not yet available.

Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have emerged as important agents for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). SGLT2 inhibitors have been associated with improved cardiovascular outcomes, not only through their immediate hemodynamic effects-such as glycosuria and (at least temporary) increased natriuresis-but also due to their multifaceted impact on metabolism. Recently, studies have also focused on the effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on adipose tissue.

Article Synopsis
  • Management of unifocal node-negative papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTMC) under 1 cm is debated, with nonsurgical options like active surveillance possibly insufficient for assessing aggressive traits or hidden lymph node metastases.
  • Out of 4216 thyroidectomies for malignancy, 203 patients underwent thyroid lobectomy plus neck dissection, revealing that 37.4% had positive lymph node involvement and biological aggressive features were found in a significant portion of patients.
  • The study identified younger age and multifocality as significant risk factors for hidden lymph node metastases, emphasizing that while PTMC is often seen as low-risk, some patients may exhibit aggressive characteristics, making cautious nonsurgical management essential to avoid undertreatment.

Aims: A number of studies have suggested that pancreatic α cells produce intact GLP-1, thereby constituting a gut-independent paracrine incretin system. However, the debate on whether human α cells contain intact GLP-1 and whether this relates to the presence of diabetes is still ongoing. This study aimed to determine the presence of proglucagon-derived peptides, including GLP-1 isoforms, in pancreas biopsies obtained during partial pancreatectomy from metabolically profiled human donors, stratified according to pre-surgery glucose tolerance.
