Histological changes of semitendinosus autograft after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in an immature rabbit model.

Introduction: The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is one of the most common in the knee. Tendons can be used as alternative grafts for ACL repair, with tendon "ligamentization" often reported in literature. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the morphological and histological changes occurring in a semitendinosus tendon (ST) during ACL reconstruction in growing rabbits.

Osgood Schlatter lesion: histologic features of slipped anterior tibial tubercle.

No study reports the histological features of the various zone of the anterior tubercle of the tibia in the different stages of the Osgood-Schlatter (O-S) lesion. For this reason we carried on an histological study. Specimens were taken from 13 patients with O-S lesion prior to surgery.

Physiological knee laxity during pubertal growth.

Background: The relationship of physiologic laxity to age has been reported in only cross-sectional studies. The current investigators suggest further investigations, to include Tanner staging in order to understand the extent to which increases in maturity influence alterations in laxity.

Materials And Methods: A two-phase (cross-sectional and longitudinal) study assessed knee joint laxity and flexibility in 172 normal adolescents, using a KT 2000 arthrometer, anthropometric measurements, and Carter and Wilkinson tests.
