Parasympathetic Airway Hyperreactivity Is Enhanced in Acute but Not Chronic Eosinophilic Asthma Mouse Models.

Airway hyperreactivity in asthma is mediated by airway nerves, including sensory nerves in airway epithelium and parasympathetic nerves innervating airway smooth muscle. Isolating the function of these two nerve populations in vivo, to distinguish how each is affected by inflammatory processes and contributes to hyperreactivity in asthma, has been challenging. In this study, we used optogenetic acti-vation of airway nerves in vivo to study parasympathetic contributions to airway hyperreactivity in two mouse models of asthma: 1) acute challenge with house dust mite antigen, and 2) chronic airway hy-pereosinophilia due to genetic IL-5 overexpression in airways.

Synucleinopathies are a subclass of neurodegenerative conditions defined by the presence of α-synuclein aggregates, which may not only enhance cell death, but also contribute to disease progression by seeding the formation of additional aggregates in neighboring cells.

Affective Sensitivity to Air Pollution (ASAP): Person-specific associations between daily air pollution and affective states.

Individuals' sensitivity to climate hazards is a central component of their vulnerability to climate change. In this paper, we introduce and outline the utility of a new intraindividual variability construct, affective sensitivity to air pollution (ASAP)-defined as the extent to which an individual's affective states fluctuate in accordance with daily changes in air quality. As such, ASAP pushes beyond examination of differences in individuals' exposures to air pollution to examination of differences in individuals' sensitivities to air pollution.

Interpersonal Problem Profiles of Personality and Psychopathology Constructs in Chinese Undergraduates and Offenders.

The interpersonal problem circumplex is extensively used in the field as an assessment framework for understanding the interpersonal implications of a range of personality and psychopathology constructs. The vast majority of this large literature has been conducted in Western convenience and clinical samples. We computed interpersonal problem structural summary parameters for a range of personality and psychopathology variables in two Chinese offender samples ( = 424 and = 555) and one undergraduate sample ( = 511) to test how well findings from Western samples generalize to Chinese undergraduates and offenders.
