Objective: The authors describe 9 cases of rhabdomyolytic acute renal failure (ARF) as a complication of cardiopulmonary bypass.
Experimental Design: Retrospective research between June 1992 and March 1994.
Setting: Department of Cardiac Surgery.
High dose aprotinin has been used in cardiac surgery (Royston 1987) to reduce post operative bleeding. A low dose aprotinin ie 2000000 KIU in the oxygenator prime, has been also proposed. OBJECTIVE.
