The preparation of materials with application in the biomedical field needs to attend some characteristics such as biocompatibility, nontoxicity, adequate mechanical properties, and the ability to mimic the extracellular matrix. Scaffolds for use in cell culture were prepared based on gelatin, polylactic acid (PLA), aloe vera mucilage, and tetracycline. Fibers were prepared in single and coaxial configuration and then cross-linked with glutaraldehyde saturated vapor.

In Vitro Digestibility and Quality of an Emulsified Meat Product Formulated With Animal Fat Encapsulated With Pectin.

Animal fat plays a key role in the structure, quality, and acceptability of emulsified meat products. However, a high consumption of saturated fat has been related to several health problems. Fat encapsulation with a nondigestible carbohydrate, such as pectin, may offer a promising alternative to reduce fat intake from a meat product, by preventing its digestion and absorption.

We previously found that starch based coatings applied on raspberries was associated to volatile compounds production due to anoxic conditions. [Monitoring airway gas in pediatric anesthesia: an experimental model for endotracheal gas measurement].

Background: We designed an endotracheal probe for measuring inspired and expired gas fractions during pediatric general anesthesia.

Objective: To compare the gas fractions measured by means of intratracheal and extratracheal monitoring.

Material And Methods: The study included ASA 1 patients between the ages of 7 and 12 years under inhaled anesthesia with mechanical ventilation.
