Acanthamoeba keratitis in the last decade. What have we learned?

Introduction: Acanthamoeba keratitis continues to be one of the most feared corneal infections due to its severity and capacity to generate irreversible visual sequelae. Despite diagnostic and therapeutic advances, this disease is increasing in our environment every year, related to a growing number of contact lens users. This last decade marked by the COVID-19 pandemic represents an unprecedented historical scenario whose impact must be analyzed from different health points of view.

Medial Canthal Tendon Reflecting in Lower Eyelid Reconstruction After Palpebral Cancer Surgery: Description of a New Technique.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to describe a new reconstructive technique of the lower eyelid in the surgery of tumors involving the medial canthal tendon.

Methods: Our new technique consists of detaching and reflecting the most medial portion of the anterior medial canthal tendon and reinserting it into the posterior lamella. We describe the cases in which our technique can be useful, as well as the results we have obtained.

Re-descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) with preservation of the original graft after free roll in anterior chamber: A case report.

Introduction: Lamellar keratoplasties have had a great impact in the management of corneal edema due to endothelial dysfunction. Minimally invasive transplant techniques such as Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) have helped to reduce the morbidity involved in performing penetrating keratoplasty in this type of patient. Even so, these are complex techniques that are not free of complications and require a long line of surgical learning and an even more demanding experience in postoperative management.
