In the years 1991-2000, 6873 patients were operated at the Department of General, Oncological and Thoracic Surgery in Central Medical Hospital in Warsaw, due to cholecystolithiasis. Extrahepatic bile ducts were damaged in 9 patients. These lesions included: pointed damage with electrocoagulation, bile duct incision or sectioning and the resection of the main stem of bile duct.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Despite recognised advantages of laparoscopy, the damage of extrahepatic bile ducts during cholecystectomy is a subject of ongoing discussions, as such injuries are more frequent comparing with open surgery.
Material/methods: The analysis included 6873 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The study group comprised both the patients after elective surgery due to symptomatic cholelithiasis and patients after emergency procedures necessitated by acute cholecystitis.
Blood serum activity of ACE, alfa2-macroglobulin as well as triglycerides concentration was determined in 90 patients with diabetes and in 40 healthy persons. Taking into account criteria established by WHO the patients with diabetes were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 32 patients with diabetes of type I (juvenile one); the second group consisted of 58 patients with diabetes of type II (adult one).
