This study examined variation in county-level cardiovascular disease (CVD) death rates among adults aged 35-64 years using four measures of rural-urban status: Urban Influence Codes, Rural-Urban Continuum Codes (RUCC), National Center for Health Statistics Urban-Rural Classification Scheme, and Core-Based Statistical Areas. We estimated 2021 CVD death rates and used Poisson regression models to calculate rate ratios (RR) for full and dichotomized rural-urban measures. All measures identified the largest RR in the middle of the rural-urban spectrum.

Gene expression of Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) liver-stage (LS) parasites has remained poorly characterized, although they are major vaccine and drug targets. Using a human liver-chimaeric mouse model and a fluorescent parasite line (PfNF54GFP), we isolated PfLS and performed transcriptomics on key LS developmental phases. We linked clustered gene expression to ApiAP2, a major family of transcription factors that regulate the parasite life cycle.

Background: The purpose of this study was to report clinical outcomes in patients who underwent revision surgery for glenoid baseplate failure after index reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA).

Methods: A retrospective review was performed to identify patients from 2010 to 2020 at a single institution who sustained glenoid baseplate failure after RSA and underwent revision surgery. Exclusion criteria included periprosthetic joint infection or lack of minimum 1 year clinical and radiographic follow-up.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to assess the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in the Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, after five waves of COVID-19 and 1 year after introduction of vaccination to better understand the true extent of the COVID-19 pandemic in the population of the Republika Srpska and role of vaccination in achieving herd immunity.

Methods: The population-based study was conducted from December 2021 to February 2022 in a group of 4463 individuals in the Republika Srpska. Total anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were determined in serum specimens using the Wantai total antibody ELISA assay.
